Platelets, Patience, & I'm Pooped! - Day 8

Blood test, scans, and a red blood cell & platelet transfusion were the highlights of my first check-in back as the Bone Marrow Transplant clinic today.
Very low blood counts - to be expected! My ANC - Absolute Neutrophil Count was 396, all eyes on getting above 500.
First chance to see signs of engraftment will be next week, and in the meantime I got a transfusion of platelets and red blood cells to keep me feeling a bit better, and keep my body working ok until it decides to produce the right amount of cells to keep me healthy.
In addition to the generous gift of platelets, I've been ordered to have some PATIENCE and remember this recovery can't really be sped up by my will alone.
After my first outing in 9 days, and almost 4 hours of being poked and prodded- I came home and slept the rest of the day away. Armed with some medication adjustments, and increased dosage of anti-nausea meds, and strict orders to really eat whatever appeals to me - I'm focused on an epic week ahead of laying low and hoping this bone marrow settles in to do its job!
I slept through the sunset, but thankful to my mom for making sure I don't miss a single beautiful view :)

Happy 3rd Night of Hannukkah

Jessy, I never heard the phrase Absolute Neutrophil Count before, but if I could give you the ultimate Hannukah gift, it would be at least 105 of those bad boys! xxoo
Yep, each step of the marathon might not be a party but they add up. At least that seems like the kind of thing one could say about marathons, I’ve never even sniffed one. That’s for other people. Sending love and support!
